Experience the new Qik. Now available on the Sprint 4G Network.

Today we are introducing an exciting new version of Qik Video, which will be available on the new Sprint HTC EVO 4G. Qik Video brings a powerful set of video capabilities to your mobile phone so you can share and experience events as they happen, even if you can’t be there. With Qik, you can attend a meeting across the country and feel like you are truly there, watch your child’s performance LIVE on your mobile phone, or pick up a video mail message from a friend who wants to share an exciting adventure.

You can download the new Qik for the Sprint HTC EVO 4G directly from the Android Market. Keep reading for an exciting launch offer of the new Qik Video.

Here’s what’s included in the all new Qik:

New! Mobile video chat without boundaries

Video chatting with Qik is amazingly simple. Just start Video Chat from the Qik app, select the person from your phone address book and that’s it! If the person you are inviting has the Qik app on their phone, their phone rings and with a single click both of you are video chatting away. If the other person does not have the Qik app on their phone, they’ll receive an SMS with a link to watch the video live on their mobile browser.

Cool tips:
» You can toggle between the front and back camera within the same session. So, with a single tap, you can go from showing your face to showing the world around you.
» Every video is also automatically archived as a private video on your Qik account. Its like having your video chat history at your finger tips.
» From the list of contacts to call you can even search for someone’s Qik username to connect to them directly.

New! Send video mail to anyone – right from your phone

Sometimes you just want to leave a video message for someone and have the peace of mind that they’ll be able to view the message no matter what device or phone network they are on. If the person you are sending to is a Qik user – they’ll see the message in their inbox and their activity feed. If they are not a Qik user, they’ll receive an SMS with a link to the video mail.

Qik video camera – record, share, go live

This is the Qik functionality you are used to. This enables you to record, share and go live to your favorite social networks (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace), video sites (e.g. YouTube, Livestream, Brightcove, VMIX), blogs (e.g. Blogger, WordPress, TypePad, Tumblr, Posterous) and very soon to your favorite IMs. Click the big “Record” button in the main screen to get into this mode. Then once you are in the viewfinder – click the big red button to start streaming live to your friends anywhere!

Cool tip: You don’t have to always go live! You can record to your local device memory just by clicking the indicator button on the top-left corner.

New! My Videos – all your mobile videos in a single place

Go to “My Videos” in the Qik app to view both the local videos taken with your phone as well as your Qik videos in a single place. From here you can upload your local videos to Qik and even share any of the videos to your favorite social network or via email and SMS.

New features for all Android Qikkers

Today we also released an updated version of Qik in the Android Market for all the non Sprint HTC EVO 4G users that provides a number of new features including Video Mail and My Videos. For now, you’ll need to get the Sprint HTC EVO 4G to take advantage of Video Chat

Launch offer for the new Qik Video!

For all the Qikkers on Android, we have a special offer for you to experience all the features for free till July 15 after which the various Premium options will be available for a subscription of $4.99 / month.

Here are a few more details on the Premium options that will be available:

So go ahead and give the all new Qik Video a try and let us know what you think via email, Twitter, Facebook.

I'm still having the issue of not getting the sms message to verify my phone. My mom and my phone both registered under the original qik that came with our EVO 4G's and we can't video chat but on the 3 other phones we got for the rest of our family which we registered with the Qik for EVO 4G app are able to video chat. Would you be able to resolve this issue or email me and let me send you the two numbers that still need to be verified? One is the one under my account and the other is my mom's. Thank you very much for all of your help I really look forward to using your app to its full potential.

I'm offended by the price of this app. Generally, when a person buys something, they get something for it but this app really sucks. It's blurry, it's jerky and WAY too much buffering (stop and go). And the quality of the video is only “great” if the viewer is also subscribing to the “greater” quality version of the app. BOO!!!

I think the 5 per month is a bit much. Have you thought about offering a yearly like $20. Not nearly as much but much more likely to get more premium users. I think $20 is the sweet spot for most things. That’s why you constantly see infomercials for $19.99. Because people are willing to part with a mere 20 dollars.

This is cool, my EVO worked out of the box. I am still trying to figure out how to start a qik call. All I see from the app is the ability to perform the video upload, cant find the link to start a video call? I’ll keep looking, I am sure I will find it.

I’m generally not the kind of person to submit my opinion on other’s blogs, but for this article I simply had to do it. I have been digging through your site a lot recently and I’m super impressed, I think you might potentially emerge as one of the main opinions for this topic. Not sure what your load is like in life, but if you began devoting more effort to posting here, I’d bet you would start getting a mass of visitors soon. With ads, it could emerge as a sweet reserve income stream. Just a concept to think about. Good luck!

Just for clarification. When will the ‘premium features’ all work? I am wondering specifically about the ‘upload and share videos recorded wit the native camera’ part.

Also as an HTC Evo user. . . will i start being charged $5 a month once the free premium expires? Is this automatically charged to my bill?

You will not be charged automatically. You will have the option to opt-in to premium services in the future.

Adding Google sitemap to blogger.com blog account

blog.comYou can now add Google sitemap to your blogger.com account and increase your chances of being indexed in Google search engine result. You can add a Sitemap to your account to give Google more information about the pages in your site to help Google crawl them more effectively.
Step # 1: Login to sitemap account
At the top of screen you will see option to add site. Just paste URL of your blog (for example http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/)
Click on Ok button. Next you will get confirmation message. Your site has been added to your account.

Step # 2: Now you need to verify your ownership of blog to view detailed statistics. Click on verify link. Google offers two methods of verification. You can either upload an HTML file with a name we specify (which is not possible with Google Blogger account), or you can add a META tag to your site's index file. Adding META tag via template code is possible so just select Add a META tag from drop down menu:
sitemap
It will generate code for you, copy the meta tag and paste it into your blogger.com template section).
Step # 3: Go to your blogger.com and login to your account. Goto your blog > Click on Template
Paste the META tag code after section:
Click on Save Template changes button
Click on Republish Index only button > Wait for few seconds so that your blog being published successfully.
sitemap
Step # 4: Now goto sitemap account and click the box that read as follows:
I've added the META tag in the home page of http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/. Click on Verify button.
sitemap

Step # 5: Now your site is added to sitemap account and verification is done. Next you need to add actual sitemap url. Since blogger.com account donĂ¢€™t allow you to create a text file or anything else you need to add your site feed (ATOM xml) file as a site map. Click on add a sitemap link:
sitemap

Step # 6: You can add a Sitemap to your account to provide Google additional information about about your blog. Google will process your Sitemap and provide information on any errors in the Sitemaps tab as well your sitemap will be downloaded everyday to index your blog fast.
Select type as : Add General Web sitemap
Now you need to add Atom 0.3 feeds. Generally, you would use this format only if your site already has a syndication feed and this is the only way to add sitemap to your blogger.com account.
Paste url of your Atom feed: For example http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/atom.xml and click on Add Web sitemap:
Update: If you are using a new blogger beta system, use http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full as a feed url.
sitemap

You will get confirmation:
You have added a Sitemap to http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/. Reports may take several hours to update. Thank you for your patience!
And you are done and your blog will be now index very fast (depend upon your posting and content).

How to Connect Twitter with Facebook

I usually try to stay away from articles like this because I make the mistake of assuming that everyone MUST already know how to connect Twitter with Facebook, as if everyone reads the same information all the time. Needless to say I know this has been written probably a thousand times before, I decided to write it for my site because I have friends and family that constantly ask me how to connect their Facebook with Twitter.

There are probably people that are new to Facebook or Twitter reading this article and there are probably even a few people reading this aticle that don’t even understand what I mean when I say “Connect Facebook to Twitter”.

By connecting your Facebook and Twitter accounts you can do your status updates right in Twitter and have them appear on your Facebook account without worrying about posting updates on your Facebook account as well, pretty convenient huh?

Twitter makes injecting your Twitter status updates into Facebook very easy with a convenient application or “app“, for use with Facebook.

The Twitter Facebook app to combine your status updates into one by using your Twitter account is not some strange third party software that you have to install. It’s something as simple as logging into your Facebook account or clicking on the Twitter Facebook application link below which will take you right to the application page on Facebook.
Getting your Facebook and Twitter account is as simple as two easy steps, well three if you count clicking on my Twitter Facebook application link to get over to the proper Facebook application area.

Connect your Twitter and Facebook account

Step 1: Clicky Clicky Linky Linky

Click this link to access the Twitter Facebook application

Step 2: Give permission

Twitter is going to ask you for permission to grant access from Facebook to grab your tweets (status updates) and make them visible on your Facebook wall. You can always revoke this access by removing the application by editing your applications in Facebook.

Step 3: Login to Twitter

Ok your almost outta here and ready to start doing status updates from one place, Twitter. Please note that using this application does not stop you from being able to do status updates on Facebook, if your a status update addict get your fill tweeting and posting status updates on Facebook.

That’s it! You did it, you can now send Twitter messages from your Blackberry phone with Uber Twitter or use just about any cell phone to post tweets while your on the go and party hard knowing your friends see your status updates about the shots you just did with some strange guy. Oh yeah you might want to read some of my Twitter Safety tips if you are either new to Twitter or use cell applications to tweet, there’s actually some decent info in there.

Now I hope you know you do have a responsability to leave a comment and let me know if yo found this article useful, you can leave a question too or just say hi. Subscribe to my rss feed for instant update notification.

How to Make Gmail My Homepage...........?

Gmail is a simple, powerful email program used by millions of people worldwide. It is often easier to set Gmail's website to your computer's homepage than to frequently navigate to it. The process is simple, though not the same for all web browsers.

               Firefox

  1. Open the Firefox web browser, and navigate to Gmail's website; a link is in the Resources section below.
  2. Click the "Tools" link at the top of the web browser window. Click "Options" to open the pop-up options box.
  3. Click the "General" tab, if it is not already selected. The first option in the "General" tab is "Startup." Select "Show my Homepage" from the "When Firefox Starts" drop-down menu.
  4. Type Gmail's web address into the "Homepage" box, or click the "Use Current Pages" button. Click the "Okay" button to commit the changes to the browser's memory.

5.Close and restart Firefox to confirm that the changes were made and that the             homepage is Google's Gmail.

                               INTERNET EXPLORER

  1. Open the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser, and navigate to Gmail's website; check the Resources section below for a link to Gmail.
  2. Click the "Tools" drop-down link from the toolbar on the right-hand side. Select the "Internet Options" link at the bottom of the menu.
  3. Select the "General" tab if it's not already chosen. In the "Home page" box, type Gmail's web address, or click the "Use Current" button. Click "Apply" to make the changes and "Okay" to close the "Internet Options" box.
  4. Close the web browser, and restart it to check that the changes were applied and that Gmail is the homepage.

                            Google Chrome

  1. Open the Google Chrome web browser and navigate to Gmail's website; check the Resources section for the Gmail link.
  2. Click the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" button on the navigation bar. The button looks like a wrench. Select the "Options" link from the drop-down menu.
  3. Select the "Basics" tab if it's not already chosen. Select "Open the home page" option from the "Startup" section. Choose "Open this page" from the "Home page" section, and type Gmail's web address in the box.
  4. Click the "Close" button to apply the changes, and restart the web browser to check that the changes were applied.
